Just lost my job as a writer/researcher. Company opted for AI generating all their content. Cried for 2 hours straight.

The AI wave hit, and I lost my job. The company shut down in 2024 due to lack of clients. BSc Zoology, 3+ years writing experience. Struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts.

I was a full time professional writer for 11 years. Out of work since February. Working in a liquor store part time for minimum wage. Sold pretty much everything of value. Our industry is effectively gone - computers are doing all the writing now.

Two months ago I was laid off from my job as an editor/content writer within a tech company. They said it is not a performance thing, it is a numbers thing, we will be optimizing with AI tools. Writer for 10+ years, feeling crushed to be swapped by a robot.

I worked as a blog writer for a marketing agency for three years, and they laid us all off at the end of 2024 thanks to AI. CEO got back in touch asking me to come back to edit the slop and write some posts from scratch because Google penalized AI content.
